Common questions.
How much do designers actually make?
It depends on volume and how you set your margin. Our active designers average $400–$2,400/month. Top sellers clear $8K+ in seasonal months (Mother's Day, Christmas). Royalties go up to 20%, set by you per product.
Do I keep my copyright?
Yes. You retain full copyright on every design you upload. We get a non-exclusive license to print and sell on the products you select. You can take any design down within 48 hours notice — no questions asked. Full terms in our Designer Agreement.
What file formats and resolution do you need?
PNG or TIFF, 300 DPI minimum, with a transparent background where applicable. We provide product-specific templates with safe zones and bleed areas. Full specs are in the Designer Agreement.
Can I sell my designs elsewhere too?
Absolutely. Our designer agreement is non-exclusive. Sell on your own site, Etsy, Society6 — wherever. We just ask that you don't copy/paste descriptions or photos directly between platforms (search engines penalize duplicate content, which hurts you).
How do you handle customer service?
100% HellaPrints. Order issues, shipping questions, returns, refunds — our team handles all of it. You never have to respond to a "Where's my order?" email. Customers can message designers about custom requests through our dashboard, but it's optional.
What happens if my design infringes someone's IP?
We take this seriously. Our terms require all uploaded designs to be your own original art (or fully licensed). If a valid DMCA notice comes in, we take the design down immediately and pause your payouts pending review. Repeat infringers are removed permanently. Don't upload art you don't own — full stop.
How long does approval take?
5 business days for the initial designer application. We review your portfolio link and three samples to confirm original art, professional quality, and a fit with the marketplace (original art across wall art, home & living, apparel, accessories, and gifts). Once approved, individual designs are auto-published after a quick automated content check.
